You have to be creative and consistent, but you also have to fgure out why things don't work and change." Brad's outlook on marketing falls back in line with his entrepreneurial experience: "Not everything is going to work; you just have to learn from the mistake and hope it's not an expensive one." Long Road Ahead It seems like Brad shouldn't have any hours left in the day, but Pacifc Tanning is just one of his projects. email is the method of choice. Email's visual nature combined with an email list 12,000 strong makes it a wise choice for the business. Pacifc also relies on the high open-rate of text messages to deliver time sensitive messages. For both email and text message marketing, the salon reaches out to customers twice per month on average. The biggest advantage of their marketing efforts is that everything is connected. Each form of media is an opportunity to mention another. With a Facebook, Twitter, website, smartphone app, and other profles linked together, their overall web traffc reaches farther. Instead of providing the traditional free tan to new customers, Brad tries to add value to the services to steer away from the bottom-feeder mentality. New visitors enjoy a welcome offer of three tans for $10 or a single session for $2. Brad developed the Body Decor line of lotions as part of his mission to provide quality skincare products while helping salons with positive messaging and ideas to increase sales. More recently, he added a dietary supplement to the lineup and developed the Body Tan Scan app for iPhone, Android and Blackberry. As for the salon, Pacifc Tanning is getting ready for more growth. Brad is preparing to open a third location by the end of the year, and hopefully a fourth shortly after. He says his goal is to have seven salons and potentially begin franchising.
