INSPIRED IDEAS The most popular trainings are motivational or sales oriented. We love showing our previous salon experience by getting behind the counter and teaching the staff in a hands-on way. There hasn't been a time yet when I haven't beat a store's sales records, and I hope it stays that way! We also work Free Tan Weekends. It's all about getting the staff and the customers excited about our product. It's the same principle with the anti-aging ingredients and the night crème. We know that tanners are buying these kinds of products somewhere. Now we are giving them the opportunity to do more business with you or let their tanning lotion multitask for more of those beauty needs. In addition to great color, these high-end products can give you a boost of collagen, reduce the appearance of age spots and wrinkles and provide a soothing effect. Q: Are there any 2014 products that stand out? All of the new developments in skin care allow salons to open the discussion about what tanners are using at home for the rest of their beauty routine. Not only does it provide the opportunity for an extra sale, it lets the client see you as an expert in skin care – not just tanning. A: Since our current lines have become so popular, we decided to add products to the existing lineup rather than bringing out an entire new line. Some of the new products are already selling like crazy, and it's showing us some new trends in the industry. Platinum Couture is blowing off the shelves! It looks like a box from Tiffany & Co., and the high-end ingredients are very appealing. The scent is unisex – very clean – and the white bronzers are really making an impact with customers. #GirlCode is another white bronzer that's new for 2014. We've imported beauty cream technology and an airbrush finish, so tanners get results that look flawless and matte. As for white bronzers, these products are the new way to appease busy clients. Everyone wants a tan that's dark and fast. Before, we saw these customers gravitate to the super dark black bronzers with cosmetic color, but now we see them grabbing white bronzers. They still have DHA, but without the cosmetic color, it won't transfer onto their clothes and it makes for easier application. Q: Are there any internal changes at Devoted Creations? Glam Factor After Dark also stands out from the pack. It's a night crème that pairs with Glam Factor tanning crème. Instead of simply preventing wrinkles, it has bioactive tetrapeptides that work on formation of existing wrinkles. Q: How do these products reflect larger trends in tanning? A: A lot of the new trends in tanning have to do with skincare that we see in the cosmetics industry. BB crème, or beauty balm, is the hottest thing on the market right now. It's perfect for masking and perfecting, which is a great asset to tanning products. Not only do you get a great tan, the results are enhanced by the improved appearance of skin. In the last year, we purchased our own plastics company. We have always had our own manufacturing facilities and chemists, but now we can make our own bottles. Every part of our product is made internally, as a result, and we can have more unique packaging with better quality control. On top of the esthetic element, this means that we can have better order fulfillment. This is also exciting for industry events and salons since we're now able to make promotional items. Salons can call us for customized items to use at their next salon event. They don't even have to be a Five Star Diamond salon to take advantage of these resources.
