twitter my facebook We asked, you answered! Here are some of the responses to our weekly questions on Facebook and Twitter. Tell us about how your store is decorated! Cool green, teal with dark brown trim for a relaxing spa-like atmosphere after getting out of the tanning beds. Modern but friendly and welcoming furniture in the waiting area with small amount of boutique clothing and jewelry case full of bling to feast your eyes on! ● Beau Soleil Tanning Studio Changing my theme from classic, muted and sophisticated to brighter, fun murals of purple palms on cobalt seas. Changing after fve years for the next generation of tanners. Bathroom is now a surfboard theme. Keeping in mind the "Never buy a $60 chair when a $6 one will work" slogan. ● Joni Clevenger Margaritaville extreme retro abstract with a touch of class! We have so many designers in this town that our clients expect the unexpected. Every wall is painted a different color of lime green, orange and blue with white trim. ● Carolyn Reavis White We love Kenny Chesney, and our favorite song is "Old Blue Chair" so we named the salon Cinnamon Bay after a lyric in the song. The inside is decorated with Kenny's life size cutouts, pictures we took at his different concerts, an autographed t-shirt, and an autographed picture he signed for us at a concert, palm trees and of course a little old blue chair sits on our counter! ● Kim Brodzik How do you deal with clients who try to tan too much? I had a customer who tanned everyday and had never purchased or used lotion. I sat her down and explained the true benefts of lotion, less tanning time, and hydrated skin. That day, we started her on an accelerator and lowered her tan time by fve minutes. In two weeks she was on a bronzer and extender, and tanning three days a week. She was totally amazed with the way her skin looked and felt. She said her color was better than when she tanned everyday and she loved the compliments she was getting. ● Kimberly D Beane I ask them if they know that tanning every other day will actually help them get darker in the long run. I explain about the thickening of the skin as a natural protection against overexposure and help them put a smarter exposure schedule in place. It saved them time, money, and wear and tear on their skin. Very few people ignore that. ● Charis Kehler SPEAK UP We had a client tell us she had tanned somewhere else that day and she didn't feel like she got anything. We had to turn her away after we explained the process and how UV rays affect everyone differently. Most people appreciate it when you explain that you want them to get the best tan and that you're there for them. ● Amy Mays, Manager at Sun Tan USA Learn more about the salon on page 27. Your answers could be featured in next month's issue!
